A New Kind of Vacation

Doesn't he look so grown up here? He's getting ridiculously good at pulling himself up and walking along furniture.
Getting ready for bath time!

Best buds. They share a common interest--looking out the front screen door. Neko actually stood still so that Fisher could stay balanced (one hand on the door and one on the dog).

We had to bust out some vinyl Thriller in honor of MJ. I used to actually use these headphones!

We went on a rock star tour of Milwaukee two weekends ago--drove down in the morning and went to the zoo, took in a Brewer's game that night, and attended the Circus Parade the following afternoon. My how our trips have changed! Here's D and Fisher at the zoo.

We went to a Brewer's game too (something D and I had been wanting to do since moving to WI). They played and beat the LA Dodgers.

Getting ready to go in.

A family shot in front of the stadium.

It was a sold out game and every time they hit a homerun fireworks went off. It was a lot of noise and stimulation for me, so I can't imagine what it was like for him. But he didn't fuss once, he just looked around in awe.

Amazed or else confused.

We kept the snacks coming so he'd stay put on our laps for the 2 and a half hours we were there. He likes to show off his pincer grasp.

Of course we made a stop at the Fonz statue.

We checked out the Circus Parade while in Milwaukee--the 3rd largest parade in the country. The mayor of GB recommended it, and we ended up sitting next to him and his family. It was over two hours long, and consisted of only horse-drawn antique circus wagons. This with one of Fisher's favorite animals--the giraffe.

Another antique wagon.

I hope these elephants received better treatment than the ones in the latest peta video! This may be Fisher's first and last circus experience.

I love that square jaw--and those puffy cheeks!

Summer Lovin'

We've been enjoying our summer and watching Fisher tackle new firsts. We took a 5-day trip to Iowa so we could have quality time with everyone. Over the 4th weekend, we took Fisher on his first boat ride, first trip to the zoo, and first trip to the beach. His latest achievements: clapping, pointing at everything, pulling himself up to standing, and "cruising" (walking along furniture and with our help). All he wants to do lately is walk.

A gorgeous mug.
Daddy buried his legs in the sand.

He was very excited about the waves lapping the shoreline. The water was a bit chilly but he didn't want to stop.

Neko hoping that Fisher will throw the ball for him.

Loving the boat.

Group shot on our 4th of July cruise.

Fisher thought he'd show the captain how to drive the boat.

He was happy the whole two hour ride!

Pointing is the funniest thing of late.

I think Fisher is going to be an animal whisperer--he talked to every animal at the zoo, especially this giraffe. He has no fear.

Fisher knows a bs'er when he sees one! (we had a nice visit with Jerad and Kate).

We went to the pool in Indianola. Check out that mouth--he was squelling with excitement.

My boys just after a trip down the slide.

Hanging with Stella, Aunt Carrie's new pup.
Love the sky here--note Fisher in walking mode, and me trying to take a break.

Fisher with his cousins.

We had to make a trip to Smitty's for the world famous pork tenderloins, and Greg met up with us.

We had a good time at the Des Moines Arts Festival; all Fisher wanted to do was "walk" through the water in the downtown park.

And more cousins! Doesn't this just scream summer?

Aunt Shelby giving Fisher some of Great Grandma's homemade ice cream.

Swinging with daddy.

A 4 generation photo in front of Derek's great grandfather's newly restored tractor.

Derek took it for a spin.
Checking out some local art.

Derek and Fisher on father's day.

We went up to Door Co. to celebrate.

Lunch time.

Clapping!

Getting into trouble...

And getting into everything!

Carosel ride.

Wind blown.

Riding the train at Bay Beach.
