It's been another whirlwind month, so here's another long update.
Phoenix enjoying the sunshine on a beautiful fall day.
Fisher loves looking for caterpillars and worms (here he's showing off a woolly worm). He has some pet worms in a jar in the garage that he found the other day. He came up to me and pulled 4 worms out of his pocket...I gave him the jar for safe keeping.
Apple picking! We picked 20 lbs and still had to go pick more, but we've got jars and a freezer full of applesauce and apple butter.
Phoenix has outgrown the bumbo chair and now sits at the table in a high chair.
The neighbor kid has an electric jeep and let Fisher have a turn driving. We couldn't get him off--he was driving over curbs and through piles of leaves. As you can tell by the look on his face he thought it was pretty cool.
Taking his friend for a spin.
On Phoenix's birthday I took the kids to an orchard/pumpkin patch with all the bells and whistles. Their favorite thing was the corn pool.
Oh yeah.
They also enjoyed the hay rack ride, corn maze, goats, and trampoline.
The birthday girl!
The mad mad hatter.
That evening we celebrated with soups and cupcakes.
Fisher trying to help her dive in, as if she needed any help.
Yumm.
And now the sugar high.
Thrilled with all the gifts she just unwrapped.
We went to a friend's farm to pick pumpkins. His.
And hers.
Fisher was pretty proud of the dinosaur bones he discovered in a ditch (aka deer bones).
About the only time she sits still is to watch football and enjoy a snack with daddy.
More birthday cupcakes at Nana and Papa's since they couldn't make the party on her big day.
I had the terrible idea of making green slime. They didn't think it was terrible but they didn't have to clean it up.
Checked out another pumpkin patch with D.
Corn!
Also enjoyed the tire swings.
It's impossible to get a picture of the two of them.
A hay ride with D on a beautiful late afternoon--a golden sun and spice in the air.
Finally, they both smiled!
We have lots and lots of leaves to rake.
Chilling with D.
More fun in the leaves.
She thinks Fisher is the bees knees.
This is the look she gives you when you tell her 'no'.
She's sweet...
and crazy.
Taking advantage of the weather with a nice long hike.
Taking a break on a beach we came across.
Fisher looking for crawdads. He's never seen one, but he wants one for a pet after listening to Derek's 'little Johnny' stories (a series of stories about a little boy named Johnny that he tells to Fisher every night).
Carving pumpkins.
Everything is fun for this girl.
The masterpieces.
Showing off their carvings.
We went to the Halloween night at the zoo where they had a Wild Things display, which was pretty cool since Fisher's costume was Max's wolf suit.
Let the wild rumpus start!
Walking the walk at the zoo. Phoenix in the stroller eating a sucker. Every time she got a new piece of candy in her bag she'd snatch it out and put it in her mouth, wrapper and all.
Phoenix outgrew her infant car seat and was thrilled to be in the convertible car seat.
Now she can hold hands with her brother. She truly adores him and has started to try to mimmick everything he says. She woke up last Friday, looked at Neko and said 'dog.' That same day she picked up a ball and said 'ball'. She has 3 new teeth coming in and started taking a few steps. Look out!
All dressed up and ready to go trick-or-treating (Fisher as Max from Where The Wild Things Are and Phoenix as a strawberry).
He really got into the whole ring the door bell, tell a joke, and get candy thing. He had two jokes but often confused the them.
Phoenix all tuckered out.
The best night ever!
Home and checking out the loot.
