In the thick of summer

It's been an exciting month. Apart from our weekly visits to the zoo, live music in the park, and Bay Beach, we took a vacation to Traverse City, MI. Derek started looking for jobs there as soon as we got back! We also had a visit from Grammy and Grandpa Conklin.
Fisher discovered 3 new words on vacation: beach, sailboat, and sunset.
We rented this jet ski/boat one day.

"Pirate ship" in the background (he loves pirates). Even more though, he loved steering the boat and kept brushing Derek's hands away.

He's ready to get back to steering the boat.

Check the clean blue water (some of the best water I've swam in) and Fisher's new shoes, complete with Dora gibbet. Now he'll only wear his Dora shoes. He's always had a thing for brunettes.

The beach at our hotel. We couldn't keep this kid away from here! He'd wake up at 6 in the morning and say "beach"!

No trip to the beach would be complete without a burial.

The belly dancer at a Middle Eastern restaurant offered Fisher some lessons, complete with charms.

When we weren't on the beach we were eating!

Enjoying a cup of fresh cherries (we were there for the national cherry festival).

Derek's pretty decent attempt at capturing the sunset over the bay.

Cruising the foxy lady boat on the 4th. It's become a tradition.

The rain, wind, and clouds were not enough to keep this kid inside the boat.

Mingling before the rain hit.
We drove down to Chicago one day to attend Wiggins' and Sreyoshi's wedding reception. So great to see them!

We spent an evening at a local winery enjoying a picnic, live music, and apparently chasing Fisher.

If that face doesn't say ornery I don't know what does.

All smiles.

He's caught!

Waiting patiently for D to walk with him somewhere...probably involves picking up rocks.

Saying good-bye!

We went to pick strawberries on Father's Day. It was hard to convince the folks that Fisher didn't do any tasting of the harvest.

What a beautiful life.
