It's been a crappy week here--the furnace quit working on the coldest day of the year, car repairs were needed, and lots of random annoyances seemed to crop up daily. So we thought we'd escape the cold and the crappiness by taking the kids to a waterpark in the Dells. Somehow the camera was turned on in the bag so we couldn't take any photos of Phoenix's first time in a swimsuit and splashing in the water but we did have a great day. After dinner we stopped at the kid's playground area for Fisher. All was well until he went down a big slide on Derek's lap and got going so fast that his foot got hung up and twisted behind Derek. It didn't really swell and we assumed it was just sprained. Plus, we couldn't tell how serious it was as he was so exhausted from the day so we went back to the hotel room and did our best to get some sleep. Fisher was up crying every hour and we left early in the morning to get back and take him to the Dr. who told us it was broken. We felt awful for making him try to sleep that night in the hotel!

Here's my poor little bug with his Packer cast. He broke the main bone in his lower leg (the tibula) and twisted his knee. He can't walk on it at all so it's going to be a trying 3 weeks for me! It's pretty frustrating for him: last night when I was putting on his jammies he touched the cast and said "I can't walk mama!" It just hit him then, and sleeping was a problem last night. And no playing in the snow now that it's finally warmed up some here!

He did think it was cool that we all signed his cast.

Enjoying some strawberry ice cream that he requested.

His spirits are improving today as you can tell.

Enjoying some breakfast on the sofa.

I think he is enjoying is all of the attention and being waited on.

Little Phoenix is such a trooper! With D and I tending to Fisher she's been so good about just chilling. She'll be teething soon as she can't keep her fingers out of her mouth lately.

And now: Packer fever. It was an exciting time to be here the 2 weeks leading up to the Superbowl.

Derek and Fisher went to check out the Packer ice sculptures downtown.

They were pretty intricate.

And here's a snow sculpture of the Lombardi trophy.

Decorations outside the courthouse.

And the celebration the night after the Packers won! Everyone took to the streets to cheer and watch green and gold fireworks.

We brought out the excersaucer for Phoenix, which she seems to like since she's always preferred to be sitting up and looking around the room with those big bright eyes of hers.

Fisher has started to enjoy his sister more now and often asks to hold her...

and give kisses!

Just checking things out.

Enjoying some air time on her tummy. She's really filling out! Almost 15 lbs now.

Just after a bath.

Sporting their matching jammies from grandma B.

A few weeks ago we went up to a friend's cabin on Lake Michigan. Derek wanted to take Fisher on the snowmobile but when he saw the helmet he'd have to wear he freaked. D took him for a slow ride in the yard to get him eased into wearing it.

He finally put the helmet on so they took off on a trail to a pub about 10 miles away. I drove with Phoenix and when we met them there all Fisher would say was "I cried all the way!"

It was an amazing cabin--so big that they had a 28 foot Christmas tree.
