Thanksgiving and the Beginning of Christmas

Checking out some holiday festivities in the East Village.
Discovered Fisher like this during nap time one day--on the floor with his camp set up around him.
Thanksgiving! It was a glorious, chill day just the 4 of us. We watched the Packers play, went for a long walk, and ate and ate.
All of us of course had to partake in the turkey leg.
 Even Phoenix.

The next day we decided to go pick out a Christmas tree.
She didn't know what to think.
But she thought driving the car through the lot was pretty cool.
All strapped up and ready to go.
Now the real fun. It looks nothing like this anymore because Phoenix keeps pulling off the ornaments she can reach and Fisher redecorates every day.
Fisher was so excited about the tree he didn't fall asleep until after midnight. We kept catching him sneaking down the hall to catch a glimpse of the tree. At one point I found him lying butt naked (said he was hot) with his pillows and stuffed animals in the hall so he could sleep in view of the tree.
 The fam.

So Phoenix has a thing for eating with her hands. The only problem is she then runs her hands through her hair. And oatmeal is some sticky stuff.
Fisher is super stoked to head up to Minnesota for the weekend.
I caught Phoenix finishing his breakfast before we left. That girl can put away the food.
We left after breakfast and headed straight to Nickelodeon Universe at the MOA.
Of course Fisher had to go on the car ride.
His favorite was the jumper ride. The lady working the ride got a kick out of his facial expressions.
Then we hit up the aquarium, where we touched star fish,
 and walked under the sharks.
Then it was on to the overpriced racket known as the Rainforest Cafe.  Fisher was a little freaked out by the animals and noises and just kept asking to go to the hotel.
 Nice smile D.
When Fisher took leave for the bathroom Phoenix moved in on his dinner plate.
The day was not over yet! On to the hotel's pool.
Next time I'll remember that all kids this age care about is swimming, and there are hotels with fancy pools not far from home.
Ready to call it a day, finally. She fell asleep in daddy's arms within minutes.
The next day we dragged them to some furniture stores, through IKEA, and then downtown. Here they are at the Macy's Christmas display. Then we met up with the Petries and grabbed some dinner.
After that it was time to check out the holidazzle parade. All the floats and people were covered in lights and it looked pretty spectacular but we left after about 20 minutes because Fisher said he was tired and wanted to go.
The next morning we drove to Mankato to see Nate, Nicole, and their kids.
Wish we could get them all together more often.
Sporting their winter hats in front of the tree.
Pretty hard concept for a 3 year old to grasp: no eating the gingerbread house.
This is how I find the two of them every single day: "camping" in Fisher's closet. They spend hours in there.
We braved the cold to take the kids on a horse and carriage ride the other night during yet another holiday event in a shopping district in town.
Making Christmas cookies wouldn't be complete without licking the beaters.
After a hectic battle of rolling out the cookie dough, cutting the shapes, and baking with this little girl grabbing gobs of dough to eat and hurling the cookie cutters on the floor over and over, it was finally time to decorate.

Can you tell they kept sneaking frosting and sprinkles? Merry Christmas!
